Redback 120v Cordless Blower Review | The Gardening Products Review

every song one of my least favorite tasks is blowing the leaves off the lawn off the driveway getting them out of the way and then this year the read-back hundred and twenty volt into my life and the problem was solved I'm Monica Hemingway with the gardening products reveal and this is our review of red backs new 120 volt lithium-ion cordless blower [Music] [Applause] [Music] when the blower arrives it comes in two pieces it's really simple you just put these pieces together and there you go you then have a unit that's about four feet long as you can see it's not very heavy even when they put the battery in this weighs only nine and a half pounds that's about a third the weight of some of the other blowers that we've been testing so this is so very maneuverable and easy to hold without killing your arm the end of the nozzle here has a weighted metal piece now that helps to keep it in the proper position but it also allows you to shove it along the ground to move hard to move things without damaging the end of your nozzle so that's a really nice feature now the battery we have a two and a half amp hour 120 volt battery it weighs about four pounds again that's a lot lighter than some of the other batteries we've been looking at and it does have on the back here an indicator so if you press that button it'll show you how charged it is and give you an idea of how much runtime you have now one of the fantastic things about this floor is that with this battery fully charged it will run between 90 and 120 minutes at medium now if you go and use other speeds you'll take a little less but again that's twice as long as most of the other hundred and twenty volts that we've been looking at so you can use this for a good long time I think you could probably do your entire yard in that amount of time the battery is easy to insert you simply slide it in and it will lock into place there's a lock here on the bottom to take it out you just grasp it and pull the battery back out and it goes b.p beep when it's been inserted so you know it's properly in place now this thing will put out about 122 miles per hour the air in terms of CFM it's about five hundred and fifteen or so CFM that's a little bit less than some of the other ones that we've been testing so the air volume the cubic feet per minute is a little bit less however because it's so lightweight and easy to use you can use it for a lot longer than you're going to be using some of the other ones that are just a little bit more powerful having said that this thing moves leaves like you have never seen it's fantastic so even though this thing only weighs nine and a half pounds it does come with a shoulder sling which you can choose to use if you want I don't bother for the most part I just kind of use it like this because it is only nine and a half pounds it does come with three speeds plus turbo so if you really need to dig in to really wet leaves or something that's a little harder to move you press the turbo button and it will run for about thirty seconds to really get under those those leaves and debris the controls on this are really intuitive really simple press Start and then choose your speed and hit stuff to stop some other marbles we've seen how the cruise control this one really doesn't need it because you just press the button to get it to the speed you want if there's no trigger to hold on to so you really don't have to mess with that at all another thing with this as with most of them the air intake is at the back however they've angled the back of this unit so that even if you're holding it against say against your leg the intake isn't right up against your clothing so I'd still be careful you don't want to wear loose-fitting clothing flapping around because it can get sucked into there and that would burn out the motor but it's a lot less likely with this unit than ones that have a flat back the warranty on this is five years for the unit itself and three years on the batteries and that is typical that's what we're seeing across all the cordless blowers on the market today so we're going to show you what this thing does on dry leaves on a lawn and now I'm gonna put on my safety goggles they're not pretty but I don't want stuff going in behind if I was wearing safety glasses it would go in behind also make sure you're wearing long pants close toed shoes and put in hearing protection of some sort this isn't nearly as loud as a gas tool but it still does make a lot of noise so if you're going to be using it for a while always wear hearing protection so let's give this a go [Applause] [Applause] [Music] oh it was easy space you can see the the leaves really move now we got perfectly clean lawn here okay so here is a real test we're gonna try it on pine Knolls and pine cones embedded in rocks this is a really tough thing to do in any kind of blower [Music] [Music] so as you can see it did a pretty good job I mean pine needles are really tough they get embedded in there so this cleared all the surface of the from the rocks but anything that's really embedded is still gonna be in there all right one final test and this is a tough one this is what leaves embedded in all sorts of weeds and crap underneath it so let's see how it does [Music] [Music] no problem overall this is our favorite hundred and twenty volt blower a few years ago read-back came out with a 40 volt blower and at that time that was our most highly rated blower now with this new 120 volt lor this is again our most highly rated blower few reasons for that first of all it has tons of power and it really moves leaves it's also extremely lightweight nine and a half pounds that's that's nothing even for me I can use this thing for quite a long time you're not compromising power for weight or vice versa it has three speeds plus turbo which is really nice so you can run it at a lower speed to get a longer runtime this thing will run up to two hours on medium that's fantastic the one negative we ran into is that when we first got this unit it was defective it didn't work the good part of that was that when we've gone in touch with customer support over at read back they were incredible highly responsive immediately got us out a new unit and it works great so you know if you get one of these things as with any power tool if it
